Templeton Family Farms is a family owned and operated farming operation with our primary focus on grain and swine production. We have been directly involved in farming for over 120 years at our West Central Iowa location.
We assist with land acquisition, 1031 exchanges, asset improvement, and government compliance. Our property solutions include cash rent, flex rent, crop share, and custom farming. We specialize in seed soybeans, Non-GMO food-grade soybeans, Non-GMO Popcorn, and #2 yellow corn for local feed mills, ethanol plants, and export markets.
We offer lime and litter (chicken & turkey) fertilizer sales coupled with custom precision application services. We use sustainably recycled water treatment lime and locally sourced litter. Additionally, the farm produces liquid swine manure from our operations that is applied as fertilizer to our farms.
We utilize Degelman Pro-Till high-speed disks for residue sizing and distribution. The shallow tillage from this tool minimizes erosion, leaving the corn root ball intact under the surface. Additionally, the tool is equipped with a GPS controlled seeder for placing cover crop seed while performing tillage.
We operate a John Deere Hagie STS 12 sprayer w 4WD, independent GPS nozzle control, and a 120 ft boom. It sprays herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, biologicals, and fertilizers, including late-season tasseling corn. This machine allows for three complete seasonal spray applications with high precision.
We utilize John Deere X9 combines during harvest to improve capacity and grain quality as well as reduce losses. The tractors and grain carts are fully outfitted on tracks to reduce the compaction of heavy axle loads, speed up transport times, allow for a larger operating window during marginal harvest conditions.
