We are open to and invite all arrangements and we will work with you to understand the pro’s and con’s to each type.
We specialize in Seed Soybeans, Non-GMO Food Grade Soybeans, Non-GMO Popcorn, and #2 yellow corn for local feed mills, ethanol plants, and export markets.
Lime & litter applications utilize Tebbe high-precision dry product spreaders with scales and VRD-RX setup rate controllers.
We sell and apply lime for soil pH balancing, as well as chicken/turkey litter for essential nutrients. The chicken and turkey litter is sourced from local growers we work with year in and year out for a sustainable and renewable fertilizer source. We utilize recycled water treatment lime to reduce dusting on windy days and provide for a larger weather window for spreading. Recycled lime is a very sustainable solution that has been applied for over 50 years. This is in addition to the liquid swine manure we produce on our own farm and apply to our fields. (We are Iowa 200 & 200A licensed, trained, and certified fertilizer dealers.)
NH3 nitrogen custom application services are available, while you source your NH3 from the retailer of your choice. We have our own NH3 application bars and tanks or can pull all others. GPS high-precision, rate-controlled, multi-section shutoff, knife-style application bars place the NH3 at the proper depth, proper rate, and proper place.
We utilize Degelman Pro-Till high-speed disks for residue sizing and distribution. The shallow tillage from this tool minimizes erosion, leaving the corn root ball intact under the surface. Additionally, the tool is equipped with a GPS controlled seeder for placing cover crop seed while performing tillage.
We utilize a John Deere Hagie STS 12 ultra-high clearance 4WD sprayer. It is equipped with independent GPS nozzle control, a 120 ft. spray boom, direct injection, and a 1,200 gallon tank for high efficiency.
The planting units are John Deere DB60 high speed planters. The planters are fully GPS enabled with individual row seed and liquid shutoffs, as well as high precision belt brush assemblies to place the seed directly into the seed trench. All the planters are equipped with in-furrow liquid systems for fertilizer/insecticide/biologicals/trials. One planter is setup for 2×2 liquid application with direction injection. Several years ago we made the switch from 30-inch row spacing to 20-inch row spacing for all our crops; Corn, Popcorn, and Soybeans. The 20-inch rows help to reduce erosion in the rolling terrain where we farm, create more equidistant plant spacing for better light utilization, allow for quicker crop canopy to reduce weed pressure and lower soil temperatures, and under the proper care and management, increase overall yields. All the planters can plant all the crops during seasons of adverse weather conditions, allowing for more timely planting if the operating window becomes condensed. The planters are 36 rows on 20 inch spacing, 60 ft. wide.
With some cooperation from Mother Nature and the good Lord above, we get to reap the fruits of our labor from the season. We utilize John Deere X9 combines for harvest to produce a higher quality product for the specialty crops as well as the #2 yellow corn. These machines have more capacity for today’s higher volume harvests as well as cleaning and conditioning thruput. All the harvested grain field shuttling from the tractors to the grain carts are setup on tracks to reduce the field compaction and footprint removing the harvest, especially in wet conditions. The grain carts are equipped with 5-point field scales that are cloud connected to record the harvest information in real time. The grain site is equipped with a continuous flow corn dryer to keep the corn crop flowing and machines moving for a timely harvest. We utilize belt conveyors for all the specialty crops to reduce crop damage, improve quality, and to maintain purity. The corn heads are equipped with chopping knives under the head to help size and distribute the residue. This ensures the nutrients are returned to the soil quicker and available for next season’s crop. The soybeans are harvested with draper headers to reduce losses, crop shattering, enable a longer operating window each day, and improve the final grain product quality.
All the crop care equipment is fully telematics equipped for instant data transfer to the cloud while operations are taking place. This allows for quicker decisions, easier and more accurate fleet management, and increased logistics efficiency.
“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
